Sekonic DigitalMaster L-758DR Light Meter

Stock Code: 5116075

Description

Skip Product Description
The World’s first multi-function light meter than can be programmed to match the sensitivity of digital camera sensors or types of film for perfect exposure control.
The L-758DR measures light beyond the capabilities of your camera to ensure repeatable, accurate and consistent measurements. In addition, the dynamic range of a particular digital camera or film can be stored, recalled and displayed. Using the USB transfer cable and the Sekonic Data Transfer Software, a digital camera or film’s exposure profile can be uploaded from a computer to the L-758DR. Up to three different digital camera or film exposure profiles can be saved and quickly retrieved with a touch of a button. With its Pre-Exposure warning indicators and adjustable mid-tone settings, the L-758DR puts the power of digital exposure control in the palm of your hands.

General Features

Built-in Radio Transmitter Module
Electronic flash units and/or cameras can be triggered wirelessly with the built-in digital radio Transmitter (compatible with all PocketWizard Digital Radios). Simultaneous triggering and measuring of flash units up to 100 feet away is possible. Its new easy-to-use Selective Quad-Triggering control (4 zone lighting), the L-758DR offers fast selection of which flash unit to trigger and measure independently with a touch of a key. Now you can individually measure several flash units wirelessly by the touch of the meter’s measuring button, without walking over to each light and turning it on or off. Wireless channel and Quad Triggering Zones are continuously displayed on the main menu.

Exposure Profiling
Programmable to respond to light exactly like your digital camera or type of film. Profiles can be created for Reflected, Ambient, Incident and Flash modes. Exposure profiles can be acquired through a four-step exposure test using the optional Sekonic test target, or pre-tested exposure profiles can be downloaded from the Sekonic web site.

Pre-Exposure Warning
The dynamic range of a digital camera sensor or type of film can be stored, recalled and displayed on the meter’s LCD screen. This is a valuable feature that reveals the dynamic range limitation of a digital camera or type of film before capturing the image. Blinking pre-exposure warning indicators, displayed above the analogue scale, alert the photographer when a measured highlight or shadow has met or exceeded the dynamic range. Clipping points (user defined dynamic range limits) add further control and customization for added exposure control.

Mid-Tone Adjustment
The Mid-Tone button acts as an exposure shift, moving the highlight or shadow within the dynamic range of the digital camera or type of film. Once the desired highlight or shadow setting is selected, the pre-exposure blinking alert icon stops flash, indicating that the value is within the recordable range.

Working together (Incident and Reflected modes)
Measured values can be memorized and retained in both reflected and incident measuring modes. For example: A incident reading can be retained and displayed as a diffused mid-tone on the analogy scale (f-stop or EV scale), at the same time as reflected spot reading of a highlight or shadow can be measured and memorized. The result is a Highlight, Mid-Tone and Shadow measurement displayed on the meter’s analogue scale.

Data Transfer Software
Compatible with both Windows® and Macintosh® computers, the Sekonic Data Transfer Software automatically calculates the entered test data from a digital camera and creates an exposure profile. These profiles contain exposure characteristics for Flash, Ambient, Incident and Reflected exposure modes from ISO 3 to ISO 8000. In addition, the dynamic range at all ISOs are calculated and stored. Exposure profiles are transferred via a USB cable (included) from the Data Transfer Software (included) directly into the L-758DR. Once the data is completely transferred to the meter, it is automatically calibrated and programmed for the specific digital camera sensor or film loaded in its memory.

Exposure, Calibration and Filter Compensation
Exposure compensation of +/-9.9 EV Calibration compensation of +/-1.0 EV Filter compensation of +/-5.0 EV

Illuminated Direct Display
Both shutter speeds and apertures can be displayed in full, 1/2 or 1/3 step increments plus 1/10 stop units to accommodate most camera manufacturer’s settings.

All Weather Design
All buttons, switches and compartments are sealed and the meter housing has been constructed with durable, rugged conditions in mind. Ideal for shooting in sandy, rainy or humid conditions.

1° Spot with Digital Display
The built-in spot meter measures both reflected ambient, flash or combined lighting. The optical finder also features an eyepiece with an adjustable diopter.

Retractable Lumisphere
A built-in adjustable incident dome (Lumisphere) provides full measuring in the standard position or when retracted, provides cosine-corrected light readings for individual light source measurements or flat artwork.
